ABOUT

SESSIONS

SESSIONS
INDIVIDUAL NATURE THERAPY SESSIONS: AGES 3 - 15

Within our nature-based occupational therapy practice, we offer individual therapy sessions tailored to children and their families. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for you and your child where therapeutic relationships are fostered. When working individually with your child, we take a neuro affirming approach to therapy where we aim to support you child’s skill development whilst also respecting their unique individual profile. Through opportunities in nature, children are encouraged to play, explore and express themselves freely, promoting holistic growth and well-being. By incorporating the natural surroundings into our sessions, we create a dynamic space where our kids can flourish, nurturing both body and mind in coordination with the environment.

PLAY AND THRIVE PEER GROUP: AGES 4-11

Our nature based social skills groups provide children with a calm and nurturing space where they feel confident and safe enough to build new relationships with peers. They will be encouraged to participate in a range of outdoor activities with their peers that will support the development of their social, emotional, and physical skills. Skills they learn in this group can be transferred into their daily lives in the school playground or during play dates with friends at a playground or a backyard.

CONNECT AND THRIVE PEER GROUP: AGES 12-15

We are so excited to be able to offer social connection groups for adolescents aged 12-15 years in term 3. Our nature-based groups for teens will support them in developing connections with others. We will also provide support around developing a greater awareness of our bodies which in turn can support emotional and self-regulation. Spending more time outdoors is proven to boost mood and reduce stress levels as well as reducing feelings of isolation. Our nature-based groups can provide amazing opportunities for teens to explore their passions and interests in a natural and calm environment and build their motivation around these. WHO WE ARE

WHO WE ARE

Thriving through nature is run by occupational therapists Justine Shircore and Kahlia Wingfield. We are two passionate OT’s with nearly 20 years of combined clinical experience. Our professional beliefs are centred around providing a holistic approach where we respect and meet the ‘whole’ child and their parents where they are at emotionally and physically. Our virtues around being honest, fair and equal with every child and family we support, are very important to us. We believe that working together WITH the family and being collaborative is the best way for our families to build capacity and progress towards their goals.

We pride ourselves on delivering a strengths-based and inclusive service where our clients feel supported, connected and ready to embark on a playful journey towards autonomy within their meaningful daily occupations.
