FUNDING OPTIONS

Private Clients

Families are welcome to access our services privately without a referral.

Invoices are issued following appointments, with payment due in accordance with our payment terms.

Medicare

Some children may be eligible to receive Medicare rebates for occupational therapy services following a referral from their General Practitioner (GP), paediatrician, or psychiatrist.

Referral pathways may include:

Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan

Available through your GP for individuals living with a chronic medical condition that has been present, or is expected to be present, for six months or longer.

Mental Health Care Plan

For children experiencing mental health challenges where occupational therapy forms part of a broader intervention approach. Eligibility and referrals are determined by your GP.

Neurodevelopmental Assessment and Treatment Plan

Children under 25 years of age who are undergoing assessment for, or have been diagnosed with, an eligible neurodevelopmental condition (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder or another eligible disability) may be able to access Medicare-rebated occupational therapy as part of a multidisciplinary assessment or treatment plan. Referrals are typically made by a paediatrician or psychiatrist as part of the Medicare Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Eligible Disabilities pathway.

Please note:

  • Eligibility for all Medicare referral pathways is determined by the referring medical practitioner.

  • Medicare rebates contribute towards the cost of therapy but do not cover the full session fee, so an out-of-pocket gap payment will apply.

  • The number of Medicare-funded sessions available each calendar year is limited and depends on the referral pathway.

If you are unsure whether your child may be eligible, we recommend discussing the available Medicare options with your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist before booking.

Private Health Insurance

Many private health funds offer rebates for occupational therapy under eligible extras cover.

As policies vary between providers, we recommend contacting your health fund before your appointment to confirm:

  • Occupational therapy eligibility

  • Available rebate amount

  • Annual limits

  • Waiting periods

Receipts can be provided for claiming where applicable.

NDIS

Self and plan-managed participants

Thriving Through Nature provides therapy services to self and plan-managed NDIS participants in accordance with their current service agreements. Please ensure you have  appropriate funding remaining before accessing our service if wishing to utilise your NDIS funding.

Questions?

If you are unsure which funding option is most suitable, or would like to discuss our services before booking, please get in touch. We're happy to answer your questions and help you determine the best pathway for your family.

CANCELLATION POLICY

At Thriving Through Nature, we carefully plan each therapy session and group program to ensure every child and family receives a high-quality, individualised service. We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and we appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to change an appointment.

Appointment reminders are sent via email two days prior to your scheduled session.

Individual Therapy, Consultations and Observations

If you need to cancel or reschedule an individual appointment, consultation, observation, or care conference, please notify us via email as soon as possible.

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • More than 48 hours (2 working days) notice: No cancellation fee applies.

  • Less than 48 hours (2 working days) notice: The full scheduled session fee will be charged.

  • Non-attendance without notice: The full scheduled session fee will be charged.

Please note:

  • Cancellation requests must be submitted via email.

  • Therapy sessions finish at the scheduled time. Late arrivals cannot generally be accommodated by extending the appointment, and the full session fee remains payable unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon in advance.

  • Outstanding cancellation fees must be paid before future appointments can be scheduled.

Group Therapy Programs

Our nature-based group programs are thoughtfully planned each term, with children carefully matched based on their developmental needs, interests, and therapy goals to create meaningful group experiences.

As places are reserved for the full term, enrolment is a term commitment. Missed sessions, including those due to illness, holidays, school events, or personal circumstances, are non-refundable and cannot be made up or transferred, as staffing, planning, and program costs remain unchanged regardless of attendance.

Thank you for your understanding and support. This policy helps us maintain the quality, consistency, and sustainability of our group programs for all participating families.
